Jesus

GET TO KNOW HIM

Sometimes we are moving so fast to improve our lives that we don’t realize that there’s something simple out there that’s really the improvement we’re looking for.

That something is Jesus.

He’s not very fancy. In fact, his message is simple, almost primitive. His death is all the forgiveness we need. His life is all the righteousness we need (2 Corinthians 5:21). His message is all the peace and comfort we need (John 14:27). His spiritual clothes are all the covering we need (Galatians 3:27).

If you don’t know him, you don’t know what a difference he makes. But when you meet him, you find that out. No Jesus, no peace. Know Jesus, know peace.

John 3:16, one of the most famous scriptures, illustrates just this, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only son. That whoever believes in Him, will not perish but have everlasting life.”

Baptism

Very simply, baptism is an outward testimony of the inward change in a believer’s life. Christian baptism is an act of obedience to the Lord after salvation; baptism is the means by which a person makes a public profession of faith and discipleship.

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20).

A believe in Christ

When we come to Jesus Christ for our salvation we receive a new life with many blessings. We receive forgiveness for our sins, we come into relationship with Jesus and we receive eternal life. However, it is not a destination, but the beginning of a new life and journey with Christ.

When condemning voices remind you of your past, don’t forget, God no longer remembers your sin anymore. God’s Word says as far as the east is from the west, so your sins are from His memory.

Finally commit to FWC where your faith can grow. Surround yourself with other believers and friends that will encourage you on this new journey of faith. We encourage you to bring your friends so that they can learn and grow in their faith with you.

Getting involved through our ministries as well as committing to our bible study groups and participating in various events and functions will grow and assist with your growth in Christ. Serving is not just about peoples church in Toronto but about making a difference in your community and worldwide.

Commit

When we trust or yield ourselves to Christ, there is a true commitment. A committed life to Christ does not come by accident. It is a life that is purposefully lived. “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20)

Giving

The farmer does his part tilling, planting, fertilizing, watering, etc.but so does God, in that He sends rain and sunshine and provides the very soil in which the fruit, vegetables or grains grow. Who did most of the work? In truth, the farmer did little more than a fraction of it, while God did perhaps 90 percent. The farmer is far more dependent on God’s effort than God is on the farmer’s. Without God’s contributions, the farmer would produce nothing.

To be successful in your walk with God, commit to honor God with your finances. When you commit to give the Lord the first 10% of your income, God promises He will pour out blessings you cannot contain. Tithing is the first key to financial prosperity.

Scripture says, in Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

Make a Difference for Others

Serving others is not just for pastors. Jesus said: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

You can touch the very heart of God by serving others around you. Helping out at local soup kitchens, becoming a big brother or big sister, or even helping out at the local food bank.

There are many ways to volunteer your time here at FWC – The Peoples Church in Toronto. Through our ministries, singing in the choir or even helping out with one of our ministries.
